Pinch us!
EnChor is just back from New York City where we were privileged to take part in a workshop with Eric Whitacre. The workshop culminated with a concert at the Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center. Yes – we’ve sung at Lincoln Center in front of about 2700 people, to a standing ovation.
We can’t adequately describe how amazing the workshop was. To learn a piece of music from the person who wrote it is a life altering experience. I’m sure none of us will sing Sleep or A Boy and a Girl in quite the same way again.
Check out some photos from our big adventure!
It’s official – we’re going to NYC!
Distinguished Concerts International New York City has this media release to let everyone know EnChor is New York bound.
It’s an amazing honour to have been invited to participate in this concert and we can’t wait to get our music memorized and ourselves on that plane.
EnChor is heading to New York!
In March, 2014, Enchor has been invited to work with renown choral composer, Eric Whitacre, in New York City. The Choir will spend a week in New York, working with Mr. Whitacre, culminating in a concert at the Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Centre. We’re pretty excited to have been invited to take part in this amazing opportunity to work with one of the world’s most well-respected contemporary composers.
EnChor has performed a number of Whitacre’s works, including:
- Lux Aurumque
- Water Night
- Sleep
- Five Hebrew Love Songs

EnChor premieres another work!
We love finding new pieces and premiering them for the Calgary audience. Now we’re doing it again. October 28 we are really excited to be the first to perform Ola Gjeilo’s Sunrise Mass. This beautiful work is a remarkable collaboration between voice and string quartet. Please join us at 7:30 pm at Parkdale United Church as perform this mass along with some other favourites including Water Night by Whitacre, Lux Aeterna by Schmidt and Gjeilo’s beautiful Ubi Caritas.
Concert season is announced!
We’re so excited with what we have planned for our 2011/2012 season. One of the things we think we do really well is change musical styles. We can sing a beautiful piece of Renaissance polyphony and follow that with a really contemporary, sometimes discordant contemporary piece. This is a very versatile choir!
Our first concert is coming up on October 30 at 7:30 pm at Scarboro United – that’s 124 Scarboro Avenue. Tickets will be available at the door or buy them in advance here:
